INDEPENDENT MANOR

Monthly rent includes heat and water – tenants are responsible for their power cost, as well as telephone, internet and cable services. Damage Deposit is $125.00..

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING:

  • Applicant(s) must be 60 years of age or older
  • Approved applicants must meet the qualifications the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation has established under the Saskatchewan Household Income Maximum – low (SHIM-low) which is $50,000 per year for a single individual, and $62,700 for a couple - see line 15000 of Income Tax
  • Approved applicants are point rated according to their need, with preference given to those with lower income and those who are living at risk.

Independent Manor is a four storey building made up of 20 one bedroom suites and 10 two bedroom suites which was built in 1989

  • One bedroom suites are 600 square feet and two bedroom suites are 700 square feet
  • Suites are heated by a boiler system with each suite controlled with its own thermostat
  • The entire building is smoke free
  • The building has an elevator
  • Each floor has a laundry room and a garbage chute
  • The lounge is utilized extensively by the tenants for meetings, birthday parties, cards parties, an exercise program, bingo, and a variety of other activities
  • Safety features include a fire sprinkler system, fire alarm monitoring service, smoke detectors, enter phone system, as well as an “I’m okay” monitoring system lead by tenants 
  • All suites are designed for independent living with Home Care and other service agencies providing varying services on an assessed basis
  • Minor maintenance is provided by on-site maintenance personnel and emergency situations are handled through a 24-hour on-call service. 
  • There are a limited number of electrified parking stalls available at a monthly cost.
  • The City’s Dial-a-Bus service is available in front of the building

JUBILEE CRESCENT

Monthly rent includes all utilities (heat, electricity and water) – tenants are responsible for their own telephone, internet and cable services.  Damage Deposit is $125.00.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Jubilee Crescent is made up of twenty duplex units (40 one bedroom suites) built in 1959.

  • The suite is 580 square feet
  • Suites are on a concrete slab, with forced air heat ducts in the concrete.  Each suite has a furnace, with its own thermostat.
  • All suites are smoke free
  • Suites are the same layout, kitchen and bathroom in the front of the building, living room and bedroom at the rear
  • Each suite has a front and back entrance
  • There is no laundry facility on Jubilee Crescent - tenants must have their own apartment-sized washer/dryer (dryer must plug into 110 volt electrical outlet - regular plug in) or go to the Laundromat
  • Suites are designed for independent living with Home Care or other service agencies providing varying services on an assessed basis
  • Minor maintenance is provided by on-site maintenance personnel and emergency situations are handled through a 24-hour on-call service
  • Parking on Jubilee Crescent: during the spring, summer and fall tenants park on the south side of Jubilee Crescent on a first come basis (there are no reserved spots).  In the winter, after the ground is frozen tenants are able to park on the lawn in front of their unit to access the outside plug-in

ALLAN BAY MANOR

Monthly rent includes all utilities (heat, electricity and water) – tenants are responsible for their own telephone, internet and cable services.  Damage Deposit is $125.00.

Allan Bay Manor is a single storey building made up of 22 one bedroom suites which opened in March 2012.

  • The suite is 624 square feet
  • The entire building is smoke free
  • Suites are heated by a boiler system with each suite controlled with its own thermostat
  • All suites are the same layout
  • There are two laundry rooms, each with two washers and dryers as well as two lounge areas, one with a complete kitchen
  • The lounge is utilized extensively by the tenants for meetings, birthday parties, cards parties, bingo, and a variety of other activities
  • Safety features include a fire sprinkler system, fire alarm monitoring service, smoke detectors, enter phone system, as well as an “I’m okay” monitoring system lead by tenants

Independent Manor and Allan Bay Manor are operated under Saskatchewan Housing
Corporation’s Social Housing Rental Program, which subsidizes the capital and
operating costs of the building, allowing tenants to pay lower rent than they
would in the private housing market.
